Inventor of the Year Award 2008

On Friday 17th October, 2008 in the Burswood’s Grand Ballroom the hard work and innovation of Fusion Books was recognised as they were awarded ‘Runner Up’ in WA’s Inventor of the Year, ‘Ready for Market’ category. As a result Fusion Books was featured on Channel 7’s WA Our Inventors program and in several newspapers along with winning a monetary prize.

The Inventor of the Year Award Program provides an excellent opportunity for companies to showcase their inventions and innovations which will provide real advantages for consumers throughout Australia and the world.

Fusion Books Online Yearbook creation system, was recognised by the competitions’ judges comprised of market leaders in innovation and enterprise, as a product that benefits both Private and Public education sectors by saving them time and money while providing them with a platform to create great yearbooks.

The awards Minister for Science and Innovation Troy Buswell said the finalists represented the State’s emerging talent from the science and innovation sector.

"These inventions help to contribute to establishing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in WA," he said.

Fusion Books is a multi-user, fast and convenient online publishing system suited to professional and amateur publishers. Typically, school yearbooks are created by teachers and their students which can be a time consuming and stressful task. Fusion Books streamlines the workflow into an intuitive easy-to-use system which enables attractive books to be created inexpensively and in a fraction of the time. The Fusion Books system enables an unlimited number of staff and students to login to the system simultaneously and upload photos and articles. While the process is collaborative, the final design and content of the book is determined by the school’s editing committee.

Fusion Books unique system automatically generates high quality, paginated, print ready PDF files, alleviating the concerns about the publishing aspects of book creation.

In 2009 Fusion Books will launch their award winning system to schools Australia wide. Director Melanie Perkins says “The positive response from our test schools this year have indicated that we have created a product that is not only functional but beneficial to schools across Australia. I think this will result in rapid growth, as new schools learn about what we are offering.”
